Disaster Recovery Plan Checklist ( IT )

• Identify Critical Systems

  List all systems that are critical to business operations and need to be included in the disaster recovery plan.

• Conduct Risk Assessment

• Establish Recovery Time Objectives (RTO)

  Determine the maximum acceptable amount of time that each critical system can be down after a disaster.

• Establish Recovery Point Objectives (RPO)

  Define the maximum acceptable amount of data loss measured in time, indicating how much data can be lost after a disaster.

• Create Disaster Recovery Procedures

  Document detailed procedures for restoring systems, including contact information for key personnel and recovery steps for each critical system.

• Test the Disaster Recovery Plan

  Conduct regular tests of the disaster recovery plan to ensure that all staff are familiar with their roles and the procedures are effective.

• Update Plan Regularly

  Review and update the disaster recovery plan annually or after any significant changes to systems or personnel.

• Train Staff

  Provide training to all relevant staff on their roles in the disaster recovery plan to ensure a prompt and effective response.
