Tutor Orientation Checklist ( TUTOR )

This checklist ensures that new tutors are properly oriented to the tutoring environment, policies, resources, and expectations. It helps to familiarize them with the organization’s values and procedures, thereby enhancing their effectiveness and comfort level as they begin their tutoring role.

• Welcome Session

  Conduct an introductory meeting to welcome the new tutor and provide an overview of the organization and its mission.

• Policy Review

  Review the key policies, including confidentiality, code of conduct, and ethical standards that tutors must adhere to.

• Resource Overview

  Provide an overview of available resources, including teaching materials, technology tools, and support services.

• Facility Tour

  Give a guided tour of the facility, showing important locations such as classrooms, meeting rooms, and staff areas.

• Introduction to Team

  Facilitate introductions to other staff members and tutors to help build a sense of community and collaboration.

• Q&A Session

  Hold a question and answer session where new tutors can raise any concerns or inquiries they may have.

• Mentor Assignment

  Assign a mentor from the experienced tutors to guide the new tutor through their initial days and answer any ongoing questions.
