Tutor Student Goal Setting Checklist ( TUTOR )

This checklist is designed to help tutors set specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART) goals with their students to enhance learning outcomes and personal growth.

• Initial Meeting with Student

  Schedule and conduct an initial meeting with the student to discuss their academic goals, interests, and areas where they feel they need support.

• Identify SMART Goals

  Work with the student to identify specific goals using the SMART criteria (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound).

• Document Goals

  Clearly document the agreed-upon goals in a shared document for both the tutor and student to reference.

• Create an Action Plan

  Develop a step-by-step action plan that outlines the activities and resources needed to achieve the goals.

• Set Milestones

  Establish milestones and check-in points to assess progress towards the goals at regular intervals.

• Review and Adjust Goals

  Schedule periodic reviews to discuss progress and make any necessary adjustments to the goals or action plan.

• Celebrate Achievements

  Recognize and celebrate milestones and achievements reached by the student to encourage motivation and commitment.
