This checklist is designed to guide administrators in creating and implementing a Performance Improvement Plan (PIP) for employees who are underperforming to help them meet their job expectations and improve their overall performance.
Assess and document specific performance issues that necessitate a PIP. Gather feedback from supervisors and colleagues.
Arrange a private meeting with the employee to discuss the performance issues and the need for a PIP.
Create a detailed PIP that outlines the performance expectations, necessary improvements, and a timeline for assessment.
Go over the PIP with the employee, ensuring they understand the expectations, support available, and the consequences of not meeting the goals.
Schedule regular meetings (weekly or bi-weekly) to discuss progress, provide feedback, and make adjustments to the PIP if necessary.
At the end of the PIP timeline, evaluate the employee's performance against the established goals to determine if they have improved.
Document the results of the PIP, including any further actions needed, such as additional support or potential termination.
