Virtual Machine Provisioning Checklist ( IT )

This checklist outlines the necessary steps to provision a virtual machine in a cloud environment to ensure consistency and adherence to operational standards.

• Define VM Requirements

  Determine the specifications needed for the virtual machine including CPU, RAM, storage, and network settings.

• Select Virtualization Platform

  Choose the appropriate platform (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V, AWS, Azure) based on the defined requirements.

• Access Cloud Management Console

  Log into the management console of the selected virtualization platform to start the provisioning process.

• Create New Virtual Machine

  Use the console to initiate the creation of a new virtual machine, inputting the previously defined specifications.

• Install Operating System

  Select and install the required operating system for the virtual machine from an ISO image or pre-defined template.

• Configure Network Settings

  Set up the virtual machine's network settings, including IP address assignment and firewall rules.

• Install Required Software

  Install any necessary software applications and tools as per organizational requirements.
