IT Disaster Recovery Plan Checklist ( IT )

This checklist is designed to ensure that all necessary steps are taken to prepare for and execute a disaster recovery plan, enabling quick restoration of IT services after a disaster.

• Identify Critical IT Services

  List all critical IT services and applications that must be prioritized for recovery.

• Establish Recovery Time Objectives (RTO)

  Define acceptable downtime for each critical service to determine the urgency of recovery.

• Establish Recovery Point Objectives (RPO)

  Define acceptable data loss limits for each critical service to guide backup frequency.

• Document Disaster Recovery Procedures

  Create and maintain clear, step-by-step procedures for restoring IT services in the event of a disaster.

• Assign Roles and Responsibilities

  Designate team members responsible for executing parts of the disaster recovery plan.

• Conduct Regular Testing

  Schedule and perform regular drills to test the disaster recovery plan and make improvements as necessary.

• Review and Update Plan Annually

  Ensure the disaster recovery plan is reviewed and updated yearly or after significant changes in IT infrastructure.
